Today, Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) amended SB 110 to expand the scope of the Legislative Analyst’s Office independent Bay Bridge review panel to include the Bay Bridge bolts.
“We originally asked the Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) to convene an independent panel to review questions around the foundation of the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge. However, as we discovered issues with bolts on the bridge, it was obvious we needed to expand the review. SB 110 strengthens the LAO Review Panel in statute, and provides members of the group all the legal protections that legislative staff enjoy. The LAO is well known for its independence.”
“I look forward to hearing the results of the LAO panel’s findings. I will ask the panel to provide a preliminary report before the bridge opens. Ultimately the decision to open the new Bay Bridge is in the hands of Caltrans and Governor Brown.”
Senator Mark DeSaulnier serves as Chair of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee.
