The Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney’s Association has announced an early endorsement of District Attorney Mark Peterson’s bid for a second term as Contra Costa County’s top law enforcement official.
“Local prosecutors are proud to endorse District Attorney Mark Peterson in his bid for re-election because he has been a strong advocate for victims of crime and a strong advocate for the prosecutors in his office that seek justice for those victims,” said Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Association President Paul Graves.
During the previous three difficult budget years, District Attorney Peterson has made public safety his top priority and he has successfully worked with our County Supervisors, victim advocacy organizations and our members to improve the safety of neighborhoods in Contra Costa County. “District Attorney Peterson is dedicated to improving neighborhood safety and is committed to programs that keep kids out of gangs and away from drugs”, added Graves.
Recent public safety successes in Contra Costa County include record low murder rates in Richmond and a year without a single murder in San Pablo. “The prosecutors in our office have worked hard with the police agencies in the west end of the county to dramatically reduce crime in that area and we look forward to continuing those very successful efforts” said District Attorney Mark Peterson.
The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Association is made up of 80 prosecutors who represent the People of the State of California during criminal justice proceedings. The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has consistently had the highest conviction rate in the Bay Area and on a yearly basis its prosecutors try the most cases per attorney in California.
