The following information is from Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla:

Dear Friends,

Here we are in April already and the legislative session is kicking into high gear. With assembly bills being referred to policy committees, I encourage you to keep up to date with the current status of my bills. One bill that I would like to highlight is AB 2319, which establishes the Innovation, Training, and Common Core Implementation Fund.  Last year, I was able to secure $1.25 billion in one-time funding for school districts to begin the transition to Common Core State Standards. However, more funding is needed to ensure a successful transition to Common Core and the Smarter Balanced Assessment. My bill would authorize school districts to use the funding in any of the following areas: professional development, update education technology,  upgrade local infrastructure to increase internet bandwidth, support the implementation of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) programs, support career technical education, and provide instructional materials.

In addition to the legislation I am working on, I would like to remind you of two special 14th Assembly District events.  On Friday, April 11 I will be co-hosting a Bay Area Career Fair and Workshops event at the Cal State East Bay, Concord Campus. More details regarding the event can be found below, including an e-mail link to register. Then, on Friday, April 25 we will have the 2nd Annual 14th Assembly District Women of the Year Celebration in downtown Concord.  For more information and to register for the event, please see below.  I wish to see you at these two events, or any other district events, and thank you for reading.

Sincerely,

WOY>
Susan A. Bonilla
